Title : A Walk in the Forest

Description: This interactive lesson allows students to take a walk in a forest without leaving their desks. The walk is of course simulated, and is shown on the SMART Board. This simulated nature walk allows the students to see various wild life, plants, rocks, and soil found in the forest. When coming to certain areas, the teacher (or a selected student) can click on a patch of soil or some other object to "pick it up". The class then examines the object and tells the teacher what exactly the object is. This lesson plan is an exemplary use of SMART Board technology because it is interactive. A simple VHS tape could depict a forest, but the SMART Board allows the class to walk at their own pace, examine objects of their choice, and draw conclusions about these objects.
Computer Environment/ Resources: The only technology needed for this exercise is a SMART Board that is hooked up to a computer with internet access

Description: Using this interactive tutorial, students are introduced to concepts of plagiarism. The videos help the students to understand in what situations citation is necessary and how to properly cite sources so as to not be accused of plagiarism. The tutorials would work especially well on a SMARTboard due to their interactive nature. Students would be encouraged to participate through interaction with the SMARTboard and through responses to on-screen prompts.

Description: This is a review game that is structured similarly to Jeopardy. The teacher created a powerpoint that they are able to use on a Smart Board to select the questions from certain categories. This is a clever way to review material before a test. It is also a game that can make the students enthusiastic over the material in a fun and competitive manner.Write a description for your lesson that explains the goals of your lesson and the procedure that is followed. In the description, you must explain why this lesson is an exemplary case of integrating this type of technology

Subject Matter: Nouns and Verbs
In this lesson students will be able to choose the correct noun or verb that completes the sentence. Students will be able to pick a noun or verb out of a sentence. Students will be able to verbally tell the teacher what a noun or verb is from a picture provided. This lesson could be used as instruction or for a lesson review. This lesson is done on a smart board so it allows the student to interact in the lesson as well as be visually stimulated during the lesson. This lesson is an exemplary case of integrating this type of technology because it allows the lesson to be guided using the board. The students have a hands-on approach to verbs rather than the traditional sentence and book approach.
Computer Environment/ Resources:
Smart board is the technology used. Also a computer for the teacher which can open smart board files is needed.

Title: Tracing Shapes

Description: In this activity, students will estimate and calculate the measurements of angles in a triangle. The activities range from simple calculations to complex triangles where students must break the larger objects into smaller triangles. To begin this lesson, the teacher should introduce the concept of angles to the class. The teacher must encourage students to look at the shape as if they were trying to piece together a puzzle. In most instances, students will be given one angle or one length and be asked to find the rest. The teacher could ease into the lesson by giving the students plenty of examples before they begin using the SMART board program.
Standards Met: Measurement-students estimate and measure to a required degree of accuracy and precision by selecting and using appropriate units, tools, and technologies.
Computer/Environment Resources: a SMART board is needed for this lesson. You also need version 9.5 or higher of the software. A question set is also provided on the webpage to further the lesson. In order for this lesson to run smoothly, the teacher must instruct the students on proper use of the equipment. If students are not careful around the technology, it can be easily broken.


Title : Electrolysis Lesson

Description: The purpose of this lesson is to understand how copper is purified by electrolysis by understanding physical, chemical, and atomic properties of matter. Students can also be expected to describe the properties of the electric charge and the conservation of the electric charge. The procedure involves having students write equations
for your lesson reactions occurring at the cathode and anode of the electrolytic conduction, building a voltaic cell and measuring cell potential, and then making predictions based on calculations. By following this procedure along with the use of the SMART Board lesson, this demonstrates a great way to integrate the technology into the classroom. The interactive lesson will create a visualization and deeper inquiry into the principles. In the description, you must explain why this lesson is an exemplary case of integrating this type of technology govern the experiment they have done.
Computer Environment/ Resources: The SMART Board is the necessary technology here, with the lesson downloaded as
well. Also the materials needed to build a voltaic cell would be desirable.

Title: Float or Sink Lesson Ideas for SMART Board

Subject Matter: Science Lab on Density
Description: In this lesson, students will use the Smartboard to create a visual representation on how an object's mass and density will determine whether it sinks or floats in water. My goal is for students to see how everyday objects correlate to what they are learning. It gives the students pictures, audio, and animations on the results based on what items they put in each column. For my class I would do a mini-lesson on how density and mass effect whether the object will float. After the mini-lesson I will have the students practice using the Smartboard. All you do is tap an item and drag it into the correct column then you click the grow page button and it will show you if the object sinks or floats. This lesson also includes a multiple choice quick quiz that tests what the students know. The Smartboard is what makes the information more relatable to the students if you can't actually do it in the classroom. Some classrooms aren't big enough and don't have the items to actually do a lab. The Smartboard makes it possible for students to be able to do a lab but at the same time work with technology on a hands-on basis.
Computer Environment/ Resources: The Smartboard is what we will need for this activity. Also, you will need to have audio to make it clear for auditory learners. Explain the computer, technology, and other resources here. It is as simple as touching with your finger and dragging then hitting one button. It is student/teacher friendly and I have seen this lab done with students before. The students could circle around the Smartboard and takes turns picking objects to do. All you would need is the Smartboard with a computer linked to it that has this lesson downloaded, speakers, and students. It is a great activity to get the students involved with the technology.
